Gray Maynard hoping to get medical clearance this week, Frankie Edgar looking for rubber match to happen in October

UFC lightweight number one contender, Gray Maynard is reportedly still waiting for medical clearance to resume his rivalry with Frankie Edgar later this year for the title, a rivalry the champion is hoping will recommence somewhere around October.

Speaking via MMAJunkie.com, Gil Martinez, Maynard’s boxing coach said:

“Right now, we’re still waiting for him to be cleared by the doctor. Hopefully, it happens this week. Once we get him back into the gym and we know everything is good, then we will move forward and start looking for the date.”

Edgar’s manager, Ali Abdul Aziz today revealed that “The Answer” has already been medically cleared to compete again and has targeted the month of October for his return to action inside the octagon. Stay tuned to MMABay for more on this as we get it.
