UFC Flyweight Contender Ian McCall Arrested

According to an MMAFighting.com report, UFC flyweight standout Ian "Uncle Creepy" McCall was arrested in Irvine, CA, on Aug. 14.
McCall, 28, was arrested without incident for two Harbor Court warrants for possession of narcotic paraphernalia, possession of prescription meds without a valid prescription, and driving on a suspended license, according to the Laguna Beach Police Department (LBPD).

He was transferred to the Orange County Central Men's Jail and will be held there until Sept. 13 for his court hearing. In a recent update to the report, McCall's manager, Jason House, said the fighter was charged with driving on a suspended license in June, which was a probation violation.
McCall did not appear in court for the incident, apparently due to a miscommunication, and was arrested after DEA agents recognized his car.

"Uncle Creepy" was slated to fight John Moraga at UFC on Fox 4 earlier this month, but a knee injury forced him off the card. There's still plenty of time for McCall to bounce back and put his past behind him, but one has to wonder if he'll be able to fight his demons to remain a high-level contender.
McCall has been open in interviews about his brushes with the law and battles with drug addiction. However, his strong family ties seemed to help him turn a corner in his life.
"I've got so many reasons to not screw up again," he said. "My family, my wife, my daughter, my career. They're things I'm not going to squander again."

The UFC Flyweight Division is already short on household names and fairly shallow in talent, so this news is undoubtedly a major blow to the league as it tries to develop up-and-coming stars to replace the slew of aging legends nearing retirement age.
