UFC 135: Takanori Gomi vs Nate Diaz fight set for Sept. 24 in Denver

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) brought word last night that a lightweight scrap is on the horizon, as Japanese striking sensation Takanori Gomi will lace 'em up and get after it against Nate Diaz.
The two will square off at the upcoming UFC 135: "Jones vs. Rampage" event on Sept. 24 in Denver, Colorado.
Gomi will step inside the cage to scrap with Nate exactly four years and seven months to the day that he got inside the ring and went toe-to-toe against his brother Nick.
"The Fireball Kid" was living up to his moniker through the first two rounds before he fell victim to the rarely seen gogoplata submission courtesy of the Cesar Gracie jiu-jitsu black belt.
But, thanks to Nick puffing on a little bit too much of that gogo-ganja, the result was overturned to a no contest.
Now, all these years later, brother Nate gets the chance to go up two on the Japanese import -- except this time, make it stick.

Diaz is making his return to the land of the lightweights after finding moderate success at 170-pounds. The lean and lanky boxer found it difficult to compete with the grappling beats patrolling the welterweight waters.
Ironically enough, it was that exact reason he initially made the jump up in weight, as he had lost three of his last four contests at 155-pounds.
Clay Guida, Joe Stevenson and Gray Maynard all largely had their way with him.
Of course, Diaz is always good for an interesting style match-up and that's exactly what Gomi represents. And with the bad blood between both camps, we may very well be in for a good old-fashioned passionate ass-whooping.
