Scott Coker reveals heavyweight grand-prix will likely stay out of California due to issues with Josh Barnett

Strikeforce CEO, Scott Coker has revealed the final stages of the promotions heavyweight grand-prix will likely stay out of the state of California due to the ongoing licensing issues surrounding Josh Barnett, but fear not… two-thirds of the states they’ve spoken to have welcomed them with open arms.
Speaking at the post-fight press conference Coker said:
“That’s between Josh and the commission and I think Josh is willing to do that, and I think that will get done at some point. But I don’t think it’ll get done before this tournament’s over. …I don’t think he will fix the issue with the commission by then. That’s one of those things that will take time, so I don’t think it will happen before the tournament is over. So we’re going to go where we have to. Actually about two-thirds of the states we’ve talked to have welcomed us. So we have a lot of choices.”
Barnett will go head-to-head with Russian striker, Sergei Kharitonov in the semi-finals of the grand-prix tournament in a fight many are already picking him to win due to his superior grappling and submission game. Stay tuned to MMABay for when and where this one will go down as we get it.
