A light heavyweight contest between top rated prospects on the Strikeforce roster, Lorenz Larkin and Gian Villante is reportedly in the works for the Strikeforce Challengers 16 card on June 24th in Kent, Washington. The promotion is yet to make an official announcement about both the fight and the event itself but MMAFighting.com has confirmed the news with a source close to the situation.
Larkin made an impressive Strikeforce debut in April, defeating Scott Lighty via second round TKO. That made it ten straight wins for the fighter who has only been competing since August 2009.
Villante was defeated on his promotional debut back in February by heavy hitter, Chad Griggs. The former football player had been crowned the Ring of Combat heavyweight champion prior to that fight.
