Speaking via MMAJunkie.com, Cruz said:
“Everybody wants to see a fight where two people dislike each other. It just makes it a better fight. He wanted to raise his hand and make it clear that he gave me my loss, so he started doing a lot of videos to throw a wrench in things and he did it. He got on a win streak, and now he’s talked his way into a butt-whipping.”
“I heard from somebody a lot wiser than me, ‘You spot it, you got it.’ All these things he says about me – maybe he has issues with himself. I don’t know. But the bottom line is, whatever. We’re fighting. The fight’s set. He can talk all he wants. I choose not to let it bother me. I’m training as hard as I can for that fight, no matter what happens.”
“It’s better for the fighters because we each want to punch each other. Me and Urijah not liking each other puts a cherry on top for fans.”
Cruz is on an impressive eight fight winning streak after defeating the likes of Joseph Benavidez and Scott Jorgensen in his last two bouts inside the WEC cage. This fight will be his first inside the UFC octagon. As for Faber, he recently made his octagon debut at UFC 128 in Newark, New Jersey, defeating another former 135 pound champion, Eddie Wineland via unanimous decision after seemingly losing the first round.
