BAMMA announce UK television deal for 2011, starting with Daley vs. Shirai on February 26th

Up and coming UK promotion BAMMA have today revealed details of their new television deal, which will see all five of their planned UK arena shows in 2011 air live in the UK on the SyFy channel. The partnership will kick off with Paul ‘Semtex’ Daley’s homecoming fight at Manchester’s M.E.N. Arena on February 26th .
The deal, which will see SyFy air fighter profiles, highlight packages and other BAMMA-related programming in addition to the live arena shows, has been put in place ahead of next month’s BAMMA 5, which features ‘Semtex’s first bout on UK soil in almost two years.
In a press release issued earlier today, Liam Fisher, Vice President of Business Development at BAMMA said;
“2011 is a very exciting year for MMA in the UK and a great time to be a fan of the world’s fastest growing sport. Our deal with Syfy will not only allow us to present all five events completely live, but it will also deliver the sport to a whole new breed of MMA fans. Our ongoing commitment to growing this fantastic sport has just increased massively with the aid of Syfy and it feels great to part of such a partnership.”
SyFy representative Jamie Morris of Channels UK, Universal Networks International added;
“BAMMA events are all about pushing limits, personal quests and overcoming barriers – all of which are themes that Syfy audiences enjoy and the right kind of content to broaden the Syfy offering.”
BAMMA 5 will air live in the UK from 9pm on Saturday the 26th of Feb, and features a main event pitting Strikeforce welterweight contender Paul Daley (26-9-2) against DEEP welterweight champion Yuya Shirai (20-8). Also on the card is a heavyweight tilt featuring the UK’s James McSweeny against former UFC champion Ricco Rodriguez and a stacked undercard featuring some of the UK’s brightest prospects. MMABay will be there live to bring you all the action from the main card and unaired prelims as it happens.
