UFC 130 odds: Miguel Torres vs Demetrious Johnson

Photo
Former WEC Bantamweight Champion Miguel Torres will try to continue his climb back up the 135-pound mountain when he takes on Demetrious Johnson at the upcoming UFC 130: "Rampage vs. Hamill" event tomorrow night (May 28, 2011) from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
With over 40 professional fights, the former division kingpin is currently the -135 favorite.
The lines are closer than many pundits expected them to be but anyone who saw Johnson dismantle "Kid" Yamamoto at UFC 126: "Silva vs. Belfort" earlier this year knows that speed kills -- and "Mighty Mouse" has some lethal hands.
Johnson has closed the gap and now sits as a +105 underdog.
Are the oddsmakers calling it like they see it? Or playing it safe? Take a look at how these two bantamweights stack up and decide for yourself.

135 lbs.: Miguel Angel Torres (39-3) vs. Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson (8-1)
Backgrounds (last five fights):
Torres:
Record: 3-2
Notable wins: Back-to-back wins over Charlie Valencia and Antonio Banuelos...
Notable losses: ...Came on the heels of lopsided losses to Brian Bowles and Joseph Benavidez
Strengths: Experienced, long reach, new training camp
Weaknesses: New style could allow a faster opponent to outpoint him
Johnson:
Record: 4-1
Notable wins: Impressive UFC debut over "Kid" Yamamoto
Notable losses: Decision loss to Brad Pickett still a black eye on an otherwise stellar resume
Strengths: Fast hands, underrated submissions, hungry
Weaknesses: Short (it matters), may have trouble getting on the inside
Miguel Torres (-135) vs. Demetrious Johnson (+105)
