Cage Warriors snap up Ivan Buchinger

TOP European lightweight Ivan Buchinger has become the latest fighter to sign an exclusive contract with Cage Warriors.

26-year-old Buchinger (20-3-0) has penned a deal that commits him to the organisation for five fights over the course of 18 months.

The Slovakian, who’s ranked in Europe’s top ten, made an impressive Cage Warriors debut in May, defeating Diego Gonzalez by second-round TKO at CWFC Fight Night 6 in Bahrain.

“Taking my career to the next level is very important to me and Cage Warriors is definitely the promotion that will allow me to do that,” said Buchinger.

“I’m very happy to be a part of Cage Warriors and I’m really looking forward to fighting for them again later this year.”

Buchinger made his professional debut in 2008 but has already clocked up 20 victories, a record that includes wins over the likes of Jarkko Latomaki, Vladimir Zenin and Mairbek Taisumov.

Two of Buchinger’s three defeats have come against UFC fighters Anton Kuivanen and Akira Corassani – both by decision.

Cage Warriors director Patrick Vickers said: “Having seen what he’s capable of in Bahrain, we’re very happy to have Ivan on board.

“We believe he’s got an exciting future ahead of him and I’m looking forward to seeing him in action again this autumn.”
