Howell hits back at Malone heading into Cage Warriors 44

Ahead of their lightweight bout at Cage Warriors 44 on Saturday night, David Howell has responded to comments made by Kieran Malone in an interview earlier this week.

Malone (2-4-0) said: “I’ve worked on all facets of my game, but during this camp we’ve been putting in a lot of very hard sparring, which I think will be a key factor in why I’ll win this fight.” The 20-year-old Scot also labelled Howell as “delusional and mental.”

Howell (2-1-0) will be making his second appearance on a CWFC show this weekend and is keen to make amends for his defeat to Danny Roberts at Cage Warriors 43 in July.

“Since losing to Danny, I’ve been in a zone like never before,” said Howell. “I’ve trained harder than ever but I remain offended that I’m being thrown chump change fighters like Malone instead of the full sterling, if you know what I mean.”

The 27-year-old Combat Sports Academy fighter added: “You might as well forget Malone, because after this fight you probably won’t see him on the circuit again. It’s not confidence with him, it’s stupidity.

“No one in their right mind would put money on this kid to beat me, but it’s cool. If I have to destroy this big mouth clown to get my re-match with Roberts, so be it. I can’t wait to get back on Cage Warriors to do damage to Malone’s big mouth. I’m going to knock him out.”

Cage Warriors 44 at the HMV Forum in Kentish Town, London on Saturday will be headlined by Brian Foster v Jack Mason and Joseph Duffy v Ivan Musardo (CWFC lightweight title fight).
