A women’s featherweight title clash between current 145 pound champion, Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos and Japanese prospect, Hiroko Yamanaka will go down on the yet to be announced December 17th Strikeforce card.The California based promotion made the announcement last night during the Strikeforce Challengers 19 broadcast.
Santos hasn’t been seen in the Strikeforce cage since she handed out a one sided drubbing to the plucky Jan Finney last June. She also holds notable stoppage wins over the likes of Marloes Coenen and Gina Carano.
Yamanaka heads into this one on an impressive eight fight winning streak and is a veteran of the Jewels and Smackgirl promotions in Japan. She is 12-1 overall with her lone loss coming at the hands of Hitomi Akano in April 2008, a loss she later avenged.
