David Mitchell vs. Paulo Thiago (170-pound limit)
Round one: Thiago getting wild with looping punches. Mitchell ain't scared, homie, and he's pushing forward. Crowd is freaking nuts for Thiago. They're chanting again that Mitchell is going to die. One-two combination followed by an outside kick from Thiago. He gets a takedown into side control with beautifully timing and the crowd is insane. This is awesome. Thiago looking to set up a head-and-arm choke, per Kenny Florian. Backs out completely, though, and allows Mitchell to get to his feet. Thiago clinches up with Mitchell after standing and picks him up for a slam. Weak, but got him down. Side control once again. Thiago works to a crucifix but gets his arm out. Thiago lets him back up and the round closes. Dominant for the Brazilian. 10-9 Thiago
Round two: Thiago with a body kick to open. Uppercut on a counter. Right cross. Spinning kick misses and he falls. Mitchell rushes in and clinches up against the cage. Thiago overpowers him and falls into half guard. Not much going and they're back up. Doesn't take long for Thiago to take him down again on a kick, though. Quickly lets him back up. Mitchell popping a jab. Just like that, clinch leads to a trip takedown. Mitchell gets warned about elbows to the back of the head. Thiago in side control. He looks worn down, though. Mitchell scoots his hips and regains full guard. Thiago backs out and they're standing again. Mitchell repeatedly looking for an uppercut but it's missing horribly. Comically, even. Thiago with a low leg kick, like a sweep, and it misses. Mitchell pushing in and getting upset at Thiago not engaging. The round ends and it's still in favor of the Brazilian. 10-9 Thiago
Round three: Mitchell misses a right hand to get going and he's taunting Thiago. The crowd is going crazy at it. Thiago not really doing much of anything. Finally unleashes a few punches. Mitchell still popping a jab and trying to find range. This is into round three now. His standing offense looks completely limited to a jab and a wild right hand. They clinch and Thiago gets another trip takedown. That's pretty much it. He's going to win if he gets to the cards. Mitchell looks for a leg but Thiago backs out and lets him up. Mitchell is still showing his limited offensive game. Thiago is coasting now, not nearly as aggressive as he was. Misses a big overhand right. Mitchell has thrown six punches by now, guess what they were? They all start with the letter "j." Thiago gets him down and takes his back looking to lock in the rear-naked choke as the fight ends. The horn sounds and Mitchell raises his arm. Stupides thing I've ever seen anyone do. 10-9 Thiago
Final result: Paulo Thiago def. David Mitchell via unanimous decision

Raphael Assuncao vs. Johnny Eduardo (135-pound limit)Round one: Slow start. Inside leg kick from Eduardo. Now an outside leg kick. Assuncao responds with one of his own. One-two from Raphael lands. Outside kick from Eduardo. Left hand from Eduardo just misses. Assuncao shoots in for the first takedown of the fight. Drives him against the fence and turns the corner for the takedown. Eduardo controlling the head in full guard. Assuncao landing a few elbows. Back to the feet they go. Raphael lands a glancing right hand. Misses on his next attempt. Spinning back fist misses from Assuncao before a spinning back kick fails for Eduardo. 10-9 Assuncao
Round two: Kick misses from Eduardo. They exchange leading to a clinch. Nothing going and my stream is getting sketchy. Ugh. Back in and Assuncao is pushing him against the cage. Working for a body lock takedown but Eduardo isn't having it. Trip doesn't work and Assuncao separates with an elbow. Wild punches miss from both guys. Spinning back kick lands to the stomach for Eduardo. He looks solid in his debut. Gets clipped with a right just as I say that. Assuncao working hard for the takedown and finally gets it. Takes the back with both hooks in with about 30 seconds left. Looks like he won't have time to finish the choke. From what I saw it was 10-9 Assuncao but I missed a bit.
Round three: Big exchange to open, nothing landing flush. Kick from Eduardo. Both guys are swinging with bad intentions but they're both just outside the range. Accuracy is at a premium here. Trading inside leg kicks. Assuncao is backing up with a jab while Eduardo stalks him. Eduardo tries to bait Assuncao into making a mistake. Raphael takes him down and they both look for leg locks. Assuncao pops out his leg while Raphael hangs on to Eduardo's leg. Assuncao is landing some strong shots on top here. They get stood up with around one minute to go. Assuncao missing badly with punches. Oh, flying knee from Assuncao is timed beautifully by Eduardo, who lands a punch that knocks Assuncao down. He pops back up quick to let everyone know he's okay. They battle it out to the final horn and it's Assuncao who should win here. 10-9 Assuncao.
Final result: Raphael Assuncao def. Johnny Eduardo via unanimous decision

Yuri Alcantara vs. Felipe Arantes (145-pound limit)Round one: Alcantara aggressive to start, putting the pressure on Arantes. Lands a few nice knees before eating a shot and backing off. Big elbow strike from Yuri. Insanity. Alcantara gets a takedown off a kick and he's on top now in full guard. Yuri lands an elbow on top. Passes to half guard. He's throwing bombs now and lands a few before Arantes regains full guard. Just like that, Yuri passes to side control. Tries to jump over to mount but Arantes avoids. Back to half guard. Arantes is bleeding. For some dumb reason Mario Yamasaki stands them up. That was hideous. Things have slowed down now. Arantes throws a jumping spin kick that does absolutely nothing. 10-9 Alcantara
Round two: Alcantara opens up the second with a takedown and he's right back to working on top. He works hard and finally gets full mount. Arantes is getting schooled on the floor in this fight. He's avoiding major damage and he shows some serious skill of his own, jumps his legs for a triangle and manages to get Yuri off him and standing up. Felipe stays on the mat, though, and Yuri hops down into full guard. For some reason, once again, Yamasaki stands them up. What the hell is he doing? Again, the pace has slowed. Alcantara gets another takedown and I can only assume that means he's got about 10 seconds to get the submission before Yamasaki stands them up. Alcantara can't get the submission but the round ends while he's on top. It's all Yuri. 10-9 Alcantara
Round three: Guess how the third round opens? Yep, Alcantara takes Felipe's back within 30 seconds. Can't get both hooks in, though, and Arantes turns over and is now working to land punches in full guard. Felipe stands up and tries to come down with a big right but misses. Starts kicking the legs. Dives in again and misses badly. Stay in full guard this time. He can't win like this, he's down two rounds already. This is pointless. He's doing a lot of resting. Starts raining down blows before standing back up and jumping back in again. Reset and Felipe tries a flying knee and gets taken down for his trouble. That's a wrap, folks. Alcantara is your winner. He's still on top working hard despite being up on the scorecards. At least, he should be. Alcantara passes to half and gets to side control. Felipe has been playing defense all night. That's not a winning strategy. Yamasaki stands them up again to ensure he did the worst job possible in this fight. Alcantara finishes the fight with another takedown and he's your winner. 10-9 Alcantara
Final result: Yuri Alcantara def. Felipe Arantes via unanimous decision
-end-
Yves Jabouin vs. Ian Loveland (135-pound limit)Round one: Underway and Jabouin is throwing kicks. Crowd is hot already. Big kick to the head lands but Loveland gets a takedown and he's in half guard now. Loveland working on top with punches. Not doing much damage but scoring points, no doubt. He works an arm but Yves has no problem popping out. Crowd is booing loudly at the status of this. HUGE cheers for the stand-up by the referee. Note this being the first prelim. Loveland pushing in with shots while Jabouin is in and out. Jabouin lands a big right hand and staggers Loveland. He quickly grabs a single leg once Yves rushes in, though and survives to the end of the round. 10-9 Loveland
Round two: Loveland comes out quick and gets a takedown. Half guard into side but gets reversed and Jabouin ends up on top. Uses it to get up while Loveland looks for a guillotine but Jabouin gets him down and now he's working on top. Loveland throwing his legs around and looking for an armbar. Turns him over and ends up in full mount. Jabouin escapes a leg to half guard but Loveland is punishing him. Scramble and they're back up. Spinning back kick from Yves looks flashy and lands solid. Another one but this one lands low and they take a small break. Back at it and Jabouin is landing nicely before Loveland gets a takedown. Right back up off the fence, though. Sick body shot from Jabouin. He follows up with an important takedown right before the round ends. Should be enough to take it. 10-9 Jabouin
Round three: Loveland is out throwing with power to start the third. Stalemate on the clinch. Lot of back and forth, not a lot of real action. Spinning back fist misses from Jabouin. Loveland attempts a takedown from clinch but can't get it. Reset and back to Jabouin landing kicks. These guys aren't worn down but they're holding back, for sure. Jabouin throwing exotic kicks while Loveland looks like he's just trying to survive. True to form, Jabouin shoots in with 30 seconds left to get a takedown. Can't complete it, though and Loveland gets aggressive. He's missing on his punches, though. Jabouin shoots in for another takedown but can't get it. Ugh. Ugly. 10-9 Jabouin ... I guess.
Final result: Yves Jabouin def. Ian Loveland via split decision
-end-
Erick Silva vs. Luis Ramos (170-pound limit)Round one: Silva rushes in only to eat about six consecutive shots from Ramos. Oh, big shot from Silva and Ramos is down. He was out but Silva jumped in and finished it with a flurry of HUGE shots. Herb Dean gave him every opportunity to recover and he got put out and woke back up like four times. Sick.
