A heavyweight clash between two former UFC title contender, Jeff Monson and Gabriel Gonzaga is set to headline the W-1 event on October 15th in Miami, Florida, bringing to an end the speculation that the promotion was no longer in existence.
The promotion sent out a press release concerning the event earlier today and made the announcement about the main event at the same time.
Monson had an eight-fight winning streak come to an end when he took on Daniel Cormier inside the Strikeforce cage just a couple of months ago. “The Snowman” went the distance but comprehensively was beaten by the upstart.
“Napao” was last seen in action in October when he lost via unanimous decision to Brendan Schaub. Prior to that he’d been knocked out by Junior dos Santos as both men climbed the heavyweight ranks. His most notable win came over Mirko Cro Cop at UFC 71 in 2007, knocking the Croatian out with a stunning head kick.
