Thug-jitsu vs. jiu-jitsu is teed up for UFC on Versus 6.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) today announced that Yves Edwards and Rafaello Oliveira will collide in a 155-pound bout at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 1, 2011.
Both men are looking to rebound from losses; however, Edwards is out to erase the memory of his devastating knockout defeat at the stone hands of Sam Stout. If he has any recollection of it, of course.
Stout erased Edwards' hard drive with a ludicrous looping left in the first round of their encounter at UFC 131 back in June. It snapped a nice three-win streak for the mixed martial arts (MMA) veteran, which included two victories inside the Octagon.
Oliveira, who won four straight fights to earn an invitation to return to the promotion, could not escape a Gleison Tibau rear naked choke at UFC 130. In fact, in four tries, "Tractor" has only been able to register one win -- a decision over John Gunderson back in 2010.
It's now or never.
UFC on Versus 6 will be headlined by a bantamweight title fight that features champion Dominick Cruz trying to "Dominate" the division's mightiest mouse, Demetrious Johnson.
Other match ups currently set for the Oct. 1 card include a welterweight war between Anthony Johnson andCharlie Brenneman, as well as a long awaited rematch that pits Mac Danzig vs. Matt Wiman.
