UFC president Dana White announced Thursday that Strikeforce heavyweight Brett Rogers (pictured) has been released from his contract following the fighter's arrest on Wednesday night.
According to local news reports, Rogers faces charges of stalking, third-degree assault, domestic assault by strangulation and child endangerment after police responded to a domestic disturbance call at his home in the Minneapolis suburb of Apple Valley, Minn. Rogers was allegedly engaged in an argument with his wife that turned violent. His bail has reportedly been set at $100,000.
“The Grim” has lost three of his last four fights, most recently falling in the opening round of Strikeforce's heavyweight grand prix to Josh Barnett on June 18. Rogers was dominated by Barnett, as the catch-wrestling specialist took Rogers down at will and mounted him before locking up a fight-ending arm-triangle in the second frame.
The fighter has not won in Strikeforce competition since he knocked out Andrei Arlovski just 22 seconds into their June 2009 bout.
