Charles Oliveira’s coach rejects the notion that he’ll drop to featherweight division sometime soon

UFC lightweight submission wizard, Charles Oliveira will unlikely be dropping to the featherweight division sometime soon despite weighing 154 pounds for his last fight inside the octagon, with his Jiu-Jitsu coach revealing he had been trained too hard.
Speaking via Tatame Magazine, Eric Cardoza said:
“He weighted 154lbs on his last bout because Macaco (Jorge Patino) trained too hard with him, because, if I’m not mistaken, one day before the fight, he was like 5lbs over, so we had to start that work of losing weight, running, sauna. But we didn’t wear him out, because he can get to that weight limit easily, but this time it wasn’t like that because he’s gaining muscles, so he had 154lbs because before going to the weighting we asked him if he wanted to drink some water and he said he didn’t. you can see that he’s always on his underwear, but this time he was wearing shorts, but it’s hard for him to keep on this weight and we’ll stay on this weight division for now.”
Oliveira will take on former three-time WEC title contender, Donald Cerrone next time out on the UFC on Versus 5 card next month, a fight that has been bumped to the main card of the evening after a string of high-profile pull-outs
