Two very tough light heavyweights duked it out in Las Vegas tonight (June 4, 2011) on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 13 Finale as TUF 7 alum Kyle Kingsbury took on Brazilian boxer Fabio Maldonado.
Fans were hoping for a stand up fight and that's exactly what they got from the minute these two began to slug it out for three full rounds.
The first two rounds were especially violent with Kingsbury showcasing his improving Muay Thai skills, blasting Maldonado with leg kicks, push kicks and a plethora of knees from the Muay Thai plum position.
Not to be denied, Maldonado responded with blistering uppercuts to the body every time he was getting kneed in the face and actually forced "Kingsbu" to back away from his attacks.
When things got shaky, Kingsbury wisely shot for takedowns or closed the distance to avoid Maldonado's power.

Maldonado is extremely dangerous with his power punches and body strikes, but Kingsbury wisely kept his distance and utilized an improved jab.
To Maldonado's credit, he absorbed a ton of damage and kept pushing forward. He was battered with huge knees, heavy punches and some knee-buckling leg kicks and never stopped charging forward for more.
As the fight wore on into the third round, Maldonado took advantage of his tiring opponent and pegged him with a beautiful 1-2 combination that closed "Kingsbu's" left eye shut.
He tried to push the pace, but the Brazilian couldn't finish and when it was all said and done, Kingsbury took a unanimous decision with a 29-28 victory on all three judges' scorecards.
Kingsbury has now won four consecutive fights inside the Octagon and continues to impress.
