UFC on Versus 4 – Charlie Brenneman upsets the form book to walk away with a unanimous decision win over Rick Story

Late replacement for the recently cut Nate Marquardt, Charlie Brenneman scored the biggest win of his MMA career tonight when he picked up a unanimous decision win over Rick Story in the co-main event of the UFC on Versus 4 fight card in Pittsbugh, Pennsylvania.
Story with an early clinch and the takedown. Brenneman quickly back to the feet but he’s pinned up against the fence. Brenneman gets free and pushes Story up against the fence this time. Story reverses it and gets a partial takedown before the two exchange. Brenneman shoots in and gets it but Story rolls and get back to his feet. Brenneman pushes him up against the fence but the two soon separate. Nice right hand from Brenneman before scoring with the takedown. Brenneman moves to side control but Story recovers half-guard before regaining full guard. Brenneman hammers away at the body to prevent the stand-up as well as looking to land with an elbow or two. Hard elbow off the bottom by Story before time runs out. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Brenneman.
Brenneman with an early takedown before the two scramble and Story secures a guillotine. Another scramble sees the two return to their feet. Nice knee from Story lands before he pushes Brenneman up against the fence. Brenneman throws the right and misses but nails the takedown. Brenneman has good control on top and goes to work with punches to the body to prevent the stand-up.  Brenneman moves to side control but Story soon recovers half-guard and then full guard. The round ends with Brenneman on top and Story’s in a lot of trouble. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Brenneman.
Both men come out and flurry wildly but Brenneman gets the single leg and gets the fight to the ground. Story goes for an arm-bar before switching to a kimura. The idiot referee stands them up. Story lands the straight left hand but Brenneman scores with the takedown. Story has him in a triangle from the top but Brenneman pops out the back. Story takes top position and looks to pour it on knowing he needs a finish. Full mount by Story with eighty seconds left. Story bounces Brenneman’s head off the canvas over and over but Brenneman reverses the situation and winds up on top. Story goes for a kimura but he loses it. Brenneman stays on top till the final bell. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Story. The judges scored the bout 29-28, 29-28, 29-28 in favour of Brenneman.
