Dana White tells Nate Marquardt to man up and admit why he didn’t pass Pennsylvania commission’s medical

UFC President, Dana White has spoken further about the decision to fire former middleweight title contender, Nate Marquardt from the roster after he failed a pre-fight medical prior to the UFC on Versus 4 event in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania tonight, explaining it will become pretty evident when Marquardt mans up and admits what he’s done.
Speaking via MMAFighting.com, Dana said:
“The thing that’s going on with Nate Marquardt, Pennsylvania laws are unfortunate in that the commission can’t come out and announce medical records or medical situations with fighters. Nate Marquardt’s gonna have to man up and come out and tell the world why he didn’t pass his medicals. When he does that I think everybody is going to understand why he was cut from the UFC.”
“Bottom line is, what Nate Marquardt did is bad enough to be cut from the UFC. … I’m disgusted with him. He has no business fighting in the UFC. We all make mistakes. People make mistakes. We’re human beings. It’s going to happen. It’s how you handle it. And Nate Marquardt is a nice guy. He’s a sweetheart, and he always says the right things. But being nice and acting nice and doing the right thing are two different things.”
Marquardt’s camp has since released the following statement:
“Nate Marquardt was not medically cleared by the Pennsylvania Athletic Commission at UFC on Versus 4. Nate was looking forward to making his welterweight debut and is disappointed by this unfortunate turn of events. Nate wants to apologize to his family, friends, fans and the UFC. This outcome was certainly not what he wanted. At this time, Nate wants to be with those closest to him so he can evaluate his situation over the coming days.”
The head of the Las Vegas based promotion seems adamant that Marquardt will never fight again for them and after recently buying up the biggest competition in the form of Strikeforce it leaves “The Great” with very few options at the highest level. Stay tuned to MMABay for more on this as we get it.
