UFC 133 fight card: Rashad Evans vs. Phil Davis official for Aug. 6 in Philadelphia

In the end, teammates won't fight teammates after all ... not yet, at least.
Instead of a title shot against former friend Jon Jones, Rashad Evans will do battle against Phil Davis in the main event of the upcoming UFC 133 show on Aug. 6 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The promotion made the bout official earlier today.
Rashad "Hard Luck" Evans will once again have to wait on the championship fight he's been chasing since losing the 205-pound strap to Lyoto Machida back in May 2009.
A couple of decision wins over Thiago Silva and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Evans was once again ready to reclaim his place at the top of the division.
But the best laid plans of Joe and Dana ...

A March 19 date was set for Evans to square off against Mauricio Rua. However, less than two months out, Rashad suffered a knee injury that forced him out of the match-up, where he was eventually replaced by his training partner Jon Jones.
"Bones" obliterated "Shogun" inside of three rounds to set up a title fight between the now former teammates and jilted ex-brothers.
"Bonesman" may be a superhero but that doesn't mean he's made of steel. Pesky ligaments and all that.
Jones loss could mean a rather large gain for Phil Davis, though, as "Mr. Wonderful" wasted exactly zero seconds accepting the bout against Evans.
Davis is fresh on the heels of a unanimous decision display of gritty grappling over grizzled veteran Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. The win pushed the uber-prospects career mark to a flawless 9-0.
His reward is a main event slot in "The City of Brotherly Love" with a title shot possibly on the line. Time to see what the kid is really made of.
UFC 133 will take place on August 6, 2011, from the Wells Fargo Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Vitor Belfort vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama and Rich Franklin vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira are a couple of rumored match-ups for the card.
