"DREAM.17: Fight for Japan" weigh-in results: Clementi makes weight (Updated)

At today's official fighter weigh-ins, Rich Clementi initially came in heavy for his featured bout at Sunday's "DREAM.17: Fight for Japan" event

However, Clementi, who took the fight with Shinya Aoki on late notice, ultimately made weight on his second attempt.

"DREAM.17: Fight for Japan" takes place at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. It airs via delay (June 3) on HDNet in the U.S., and it doesn't air live anywhere in Japan.

Clementi wasn't even a half pound overweight at the weigh-ins, which streamed live online. He's now cleared to fight Aoki, who had been rumored to fight everyone from Antonio McKee to Jamie Varner to Shane Nelson before Clementi was signed just 10 days ago.

All other competitors also were on weight, including the eight fighters competing in the Bantamweight Japan Tournament. The two first rounds of the grand prix take place as part of Sunday's event, and the finale takes place later this year. The top three finishers (the semifinal-round losers will meet in a third-place fight) gain entry into a worldwide bantamweight tourney the organization plans to host in the future.

The full DREAM.17 weigh-in resulted included:

  • Shinya Aoki (69.8 kg/153.6 lb) vs. Rich Clementi (69.9/154)
