The Brazilians just keep on coming.
Thiago Tavares is the latest to be added to the card for the UFC's upcoming August 27, trip to Rio de Janeiro, as he will take on American Spencer Fisher in a lightweight tussle, according to PortaldoValeTudo.
Tavares is a jiu-jitsu ace who's been involved in his share of exciting bouts that ended in his being rewarded a "Fight of the Night" bonus. The problem? The three times that's happened, he came out on the losing end each time.
His most recent contest resulted in one of the best knockouts this year when Shane Roller put him to sleep with a one-hitter quitter.
Despite that shocking defeat, he'll get the chance to prove his worth once more, this time on his home soil.
Spencer Fisher, a Team Evolution product out of the Quad Cities in Illinois, has lost three of his last four fights -- but not before putting on one hell of a show in the process.
"The King" made a gentleman's agreement with his last opponent, Ross Pearson, to stand and trade until someone fell down or a winner was declared.
Unfortunately, Fisher came up on the short end of the decision, but his exciting lay it all on the line style has earned him favor with the UFC where he's made his home since 2005.
Basically, folks, these two should provide plenty of fireworks for the fans down in South America.
UFC: "Rio" is set for August 27, 2011, and will feature Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva defending his title in a long-awaited rematch against the last man to defeat him in mixed martial arts, Yushin "Thunder" Okami.
Mauricio "Shogun" Rua will also fight for the first time since losing the light heavyweight title when he takes on former champion Forrest Griffin in a rematch of their UFC 76 bout.
