The UFC on Versus 4 fight card is beginning to take shape as the promotion today announced a couple of lightweight bouts for the cable television special from the Consol Energy Center on June 26 in Pittsburgh, PA.
First up is veteran Joe Lauzon (19-6), who has hopefully made a full recovery from the concrete legs that cost him his UFC 123 bout against George Sotiropoulos.
The loss to "Sots" pushed "J-Lau" to an even 2-2 in his last four fights and robbed him of the momentum he was riding from his UFC 118 win over Gabe Ruediger last August.
Opposing him in "Steel City" is British up-and-comer Curt Warburton (7-2), fresh off a unanimous decision win over Maciej Jewtuszko at UFC 127 back in February.
The Wolfslair product is 1-1 in his UFC career and could rocket his way up the 155-pound rankings with an impressive win over Lauzon this June.
Star-divide
Also strapping on the gloves for the upcoming Versus telecast is Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 12 finalist Michael Johnson (8-5), who looks to rebound from his unanimous decision loss to Jonathan Brookins in the TUF 12 live finale last December.
"The Menace" gets his opportunity against Edward Faaloloto (2-1), whose only appearance under the Zuffa banner was a technical knockout loss to Anthony Njokuani at WEC 52: "Faber vs. Mizugaki" back in November of last year.
UFC on Versus 4 will feature a bevy of marquee match-ups including a heavyweight brouhaha between savvy strikers Pat Barry and Cheick Kongo.
In addition, Joe Stevenson will make his featherweight debut against Javier Vazquez while Manny Gamburyan welcomes Tyson Griffin to the 145-pound division.
