With four and a half years training behind him, Douglas has won various British No Gi grappling tournaments, including Gold in the 87kg advanced division of Ground Control. Chris Douglas said: “I’m feeling confident for the fight and my training is going great. With some of the best coaches and sparring partners in the UK, I’ll be in lethal form come December 1st. I’ve never been to decision and I don’t plan to start now. I fight to finish and I’m predicting a KO in the first.” Fighting out of Birmingham’s UTC gym, Yannick Bahati brings a boxing background and a 2-0-0 MMA record to the BAMMA cage.
With a Middleweight title shot at Fight UK in the run up to BAMMA 11, Bahati may also be stepping into the fight a champion. Renowned for sharp head-kicks, flying knees and a killer kimura, Douglas will have dangerous arsenal to contend with. Yannick Bahati said: “I’m excited to be making my debut on BAMMA, fighting a great opponent with great submissions. I'll be coming into the fight with bad intentions and I’m looking to take him out in the 1st round.” BAMMA’s Head of Talent Relations, Jude Samuel, said: “Neither fighter is going to let this go past the first, so expect some dramatic action.
While Douglas is adept on the ground, Bahati brings the wild card factor and the home town advantage. With the mix of armoury and hometown support this fight promises some major action.”
