Pat Barry doesn't care about Cheick Kongo

Why? Because "he ain't been performing and he ain't been doing his thing."
That's because Kongo is 1-2-1 since June 2009, including an ugly draw against Travis Browne at UFC 120. So when matchmaker Joe Silva got Barry on the phone and brought up the Frenchman's name, he didn't mind.
That is, until Silva told him they were fighting (via MMAFighting.com):
"Joe Silva called me real cool and casual. We were talking and he was like, 'So what do you think of Cheick Kongo?' I was like, 'Man, I don't care about Cheick Kongo. He ain't been performing. He ain't been doing his thing.' Then he was like, 'Okay good, you're going to fight him on [June] 26.' That's when I felt like, oh sh-t. Aw, man. I need more time."
June 26 is the date for the next UFC offering on the Versus cable television channel, where Barry vs. Kongo will serve as one of the featured fights on the card.
It's a dangerous fight for the Duke Roufus product. A bout against the heavy-hitting "French Sensation" represents a high-risk low-reward scenario.
A win would move "HD" up the heavyweight ladder, sure, but he wouldn't be sniffing a title shot. A loss, however, could send him spiraling right back down to the bottom.
