Fight fans aren't the only ones salivating over a few mega match-ups that are now possible with Zuffa purchasing Strikeforce.
The fighters themselves have been able to explore fights that might interest them more than others and one of the men to do so is current Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion Alistair Overeem.
"The Reem," wants he's done with the heavyweight grand prix tournament, would love to get his hands on current UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez for what would undoubtedly be a supermight of uber-proportions.
But he's also got his eyes on another behemoth big man -- Junior dos Santos. Why? Because when "Cigano" recently speculated on steroid use in MMA, he singled out two men in particular: Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem.
"JDS" will get the chance to throw leather with Lesnar at UFC 131 but what about "The Demolition Man?" Overeem tells the MMA Fight Corner (via Five Knuckles.com) he's coming for dos Santos when he's done with Velasquez:
If he accomplishes both, it would be difficult to argue against his being the top fighter in the land, at least at 265-pounds.
As intriguing as a fight between the two heavyweight champions is, it's difficult not to salivate at a potential throwdown between two elite strikers with the kind of power both men possess.
If it happens, Maniacs, how's it going down? Would Overeem "uber-knee" is way to victory? Or would Junior add another body to his growing list of victims?

"Cain Velasquez (is who I want to fight the most). And why? Because he is the UFC champion, and believe you me when the tournament is over, I'll be coming for him. And after I'm done with him, we're gonna go after dos Santos for his nice comment."Overeem wants to fight Velasquez to prove he's the best in the world, something he feels he'll do by winning the Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix.
