Kicking off the UFC 128: "Shogun vs. Jones" pay-per-view event was a heavyweight mash up, pitting aging icon Mirko Filipovic against rising prospect Brendan Schaub.
And for Schaub to say he felt like "Cro Cop" owed him money for his bout against Frank Mir, he sure did take his lunch money tonight, scoring a devastating one-strike knockout late in the third round.

"The Hybrid" was the aggressor early, clearly looking for the knockout he promised heading into tonight. He also didn't hesitate to take his opponent down when the opportunity presented itself.
The former football player essentially made good on everything he said beforehand. And then some.

The crowd was clearly behind the former PRIDE grand prix champion, as it frequently broke out in chants of "CRO COP! CRO COP! CRO COP!"
It didn't deter Schaub, however, as he executed his gameplan and finished the legendary heavyweight striker.
That makes eight wins in nine trips to the cage for the Greg Jackson product, who is quickly rising to the top of the 265-pound rankings.
