TFC 17 – Bobby Lashley and Phil Baroni return to winning ways but put far from impressive performances

Former professional wrestler, Bobby Lashley stepped back into the cage last night for the first time since suffering the first loss of his mixed martial arts career and while he got the win over John Ott on the Titan Fighting Championship 17 card in Kansas City, Kansas it wasn’t exactly the kind of performance he would have hoped for.
Lashley had a forty pound weight advantage heading into this one and used it to great effect in the opening minute when he slammed Ott to the ground and almost finished him with ground and pound attack. Ott survived and Lashley looked spent at the end of the round as he went back to his corner. He plodded through the second round and could hardly stand in the third as Ott turned up the pressure only to be dumped on his back midway through the round. The three judges scored the bout 29-27, 29-27 and 30-27 in favour of Lashley.
Another recognisable name on the card came in the form of former UFC veteran, Phil Baroni. “The New York Bad Ass” as he’s known pulled off a less than impressive unanimous decision win over Nick Nolte after winning the first two rounds. Finally Abe Wagner stepped back into the cage looking to build on his win over former UFC heavyweight champion, Tim Sylvia but was quickly stopped by the impressive Aaron Rosa in the second round after he was levelled with a big left before getting choked out on the ground.
