UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez was fearless against Brock Lesnar at UFC 121: "Lesnar vs. Velasquez" back in October 2010.
And it won him the division title.
With that in mind, it shouldn't come as a surprise to hear he's not afraid of fighting Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem either, which just a few weeks ago seemed like a fantasy match-up that would never see the light of day.
Then Zuffa went and purchased Strikeforce and well, all bets are off.
"I think it's great the UFC has grown so big," Velasquez tells Peace Magazine. "Hopefully in the long run they can bring in all those top fighters so there will be just one champion in each division. I'm hoping to see what happens with the (Strikeforce) tournament and I'm hoping to get back as soon as possible. I think Overeem is a really good fighter, he's explosive, I definitely think he's one of the best out there right now. [Fighting him] would be awesome for the fans as well. No, I'm not scared (of the Uber-knees), it's part of the sport, you get hit, you have to be confident."
Hear what else the UFC champ had to say including his thoughts on Jon Jones and "Lesnar vs. Dos Santos" after the jump.
