Luke Thomas of SB Nation catches up with Alchemist MMA, Rivera's management team, and they had this to say about the co-main event fight against Michael Bisping:
"For the Jorge Rivera - Michael Bisping fight - the knee was illegal and flush on the face. But instead of taking a dive and possibly the win, Jorge fought on. Bisping tagged Jorge while BOTH of his knees were on the canvas. He wasn't the same afterward but fought on anyway. How many fighters would be able to fight on after that? The stoppage was quick, but we won't fight it. He won. That's all there is to it. But for all his talk of being a professional, Bisping spit on Rivera's coaches when the fight was over. How can you claim to be a professional after that?"After the hours upon hours of time devoted by all involved to hype the co-main event clash at UFC 127 between Michael Bisping and Jorge Rivera, it's only natural to have the fight see a bit of controversy. In the first round of the bout, "The Count" blasted "El Conquistador" with a knee while Rivera was very clearly on both knees, making it an illegal strike. The referee took a point away accordingly, but how much of an effect did it ultimately have on the outcome of the fight? Rivera never looked the same after absorbing the blow and was eventually stopped in the second round by way of technical knockout -- a stoppage his management believes may have come too soon. What do you think of all this, Maniacs? Does the Rivera camp have a legitimate beef with the way the fight played out? Or are they just crying over spilled milk?
