UFC lightweight rising star, Melvin Guillard took a major leap up the 155 pound ranks tonight when he destroyed highly touted prospect, Evan Dunham at UFC Fight Night 23 in the very first round, putting on a striking clinic.
Dunham with an early low kick before both men land simultaneously with hard punches. Dunham shoots in for the takedown but doesn’t get it. Dunham with the clinch and scoops Guillard up before dumping him on his back. Guillard looks to use the fence to get back up and does so, punching Dunham in the face with one leg in the air. Guillard chases Dunham across the octagon but it comes to nothing. Guillard lands a heavy punch. Kick from Dunham answered by a punch from Guillard. Nice combination from Guillard drops Dunham. Dunham gets back to his feet but Guillard lands an uppercut. Guillard pours it on, landing punch after punch before finishing the fight with trio of knees, one of which looked to be illegal.
