UFC 126 – Prelim show on SPIKE TV set to feature Cerrone vs. Kelly and Omigawa vs. Mendes

The UFC have decided to head back to their old home of SPIKE TV for their preliminary card show for UFC 126 after past or forthcoming stints on ION Television, Facebook and UFC.com, with Donald Cerrone vs. Paul Kelly, and Michihiro Omigawa vs. Chad Mendes set to feature.
A source close to the situation revealed the news to MMAJunkie.com earlier today, with the show slotted for the hour immediately prior to the Pay-Per-View broadcast.
Cerrone heads to the octagon on a two-fight winning streak having defeated bitter rival, Jamie Varner and talented Canadian, Chris Horodecki. Question is does the man dubbed “Cowboy” have what it takes to cut it in the big leagues?
Kelly has yo-yoed between wins and losses since dropping to 155 pounds, defeating Rolando Delgardo, Matt Veach and T.J. O’Brien, whilst coming up short against Dennis Siver and Jacob Volkmann.
Omigawa has won his last five fights since dropping to the featherweight division, beating Hatsu Hioki, Cole Escovedo, Marlon Sandro and Nam Phan in that time. He previously competed in the UFC’s lightweight ranks back in 2007-2008, losing back-to-back fights to Thiago Tavares and Matt Wiman in that time.
As for Mendes, the Team Alpha Male star is currently undefeated in his mixed martial arts career at 9-0 having won his last four fights inside the WEC cage. With wins over Cub Swanson and Javier Vazquez on his resume, this 145 pounder will no doubt be looking to make waves when he hits the UFC in 2011.
