A nine-fight untelevised preliminary card will kick off the upcoming "Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Cyborg" event on Jan. 29. A Strikeforce official today confirmed the lineup, which includes a handful of notables, with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).
The event takes place at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. The main card, including a welterweight title fight between Nick Diaz and Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos and middleweight champ Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza vs. Robbie Lawler, airs on Showtime.
As MMAjunkie.com previously reported, the featured preliminary-card bout pits Nate Moore (6-2 MMA, 1-1 SF) against fellow welterweight Nate Coy (8-3 MMA, 0-1 SF). The fight initially was slated for Strikeforce Challengers 13 earlier this month but ultimately was delayed a few weeks.
Additionally, as previously reported, undefeated kickboxer Germaine de Randamie (1-1 MMA, 0-0 SF) continues her transition into MMA when she meets Dennis Hallman protege Stephanie Webber (1-1 MMA, 0-0 SF).
Other fights include some Strikeforce regulars with lightweights Bobby Stack (8-1 MMA, 3-1 SF) vs. Isaiah Hill (4-7-1 MMA, 0-2 SF) and a 180-pound catchweight fight of Eric Lawson (9-3 MMA, 5-1 SF) vs. Ron Keslar (5-3 MMA, 0-2 SF).
Rounding out the lineup are welterweights Lucas Gamaza (4-1 MMA, 0-0 SF) vs. James Terry (8-2 MMA, 3-1 SF), 120-pounders Jenna Castillo (0-0 MMA, 0-0 SF) vs. Charlene Gellner (0-0 MMA, 0-0 SF), 150-pounders Anthony Dariano (1-0 MMA, 0-0 SF) vs. Alan Perez (4-2 MMA, 0-0 SF), 165-pounders Niko Jackson (3-2 MMA, 0-0 SF) vs. Ricky Jackson (3-1 MMA, 0-0 SF), and welterweights Sam Bracamonte (1-1 MMA, 0-0 SF) vs. Armin Safiari (0-0 MMA, 0-0 SF).
