Nelson’s future with the sport’s largest organization had been in limbo

Frank Mir will be facing Roy “Big Country” Nelson at UFC 130 being held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
Nelson’s future with the sport’s largest organization had been in limbo thanks to contractual questions with former employers.  After suffering a KO loss to Shane Carwin, Mir’s career got back on track with a KO victory against Mirko “CroCop” Filipovic in September.
Nelson has endeared himself to MMA fans with a self-deprecating sense of humor and his resemblance to Buddha that contradicts most fighter’s attention to conditioning and nutrition.
However, although Nelson doesn’t have a typical fighter’s look, he dominated and eventually beat Frank Mir at a Grapplers Quest super fight back in 2003 and survived a furious fistic attack courtesy of Brazilian heavyweight bomber Junior Dos Santos at the last appearance in the UFC, a unanimous decision loss.
Frank Mir (14-5)  Roy Nelson (15-5)
