UFC President, Dana White has confirmed that the lightweight title match between current champion, Frankie Edgar and number one contender, Gray Maynard will go down at UFC 130 on May 28th in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The news was confirmed the MMAFighting.com by the head of the promotion in the past 24 hours, although it is currently unclear whether official bout agreements have been passed to both sides.
Prior to the New Year’s Day showdown Edgar had defeated former champion, B.J. Penn on two occasions, winning both fights after dominating for five rounds. He also holds a handy win over another former champ, Sean Sherk.
As for Maynard, he breezed through the competition, defeating the likes of Roger Huerta, Nate Diaz and Kenny Florian all via unanimous decision. Will “The Bully” finally be able to realise a dream and become the 155 pound champion?
