DOOLAN VS. HEWITT FOR BAMMA 11

BAMMA is proud to announce James Doolan vs. Spencer Hewitt for a Bantamweight Mixed Martial Arts bout at BAMMA 11 on 1st December at Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena.

Hailing from Scotland’s Dinky Ninjas, James Doolan has notched up a record of 16-8-0 and 4 different British MMA titles since debuting in 2003. Originally coming from a stand up back ground, in which he won Scottish and British championships in Kickboxing and Muay Thai, Doolan took to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2002 before embarking on his Pro MMA career.  Doolan has clocked up an impressive array of first round finishes, but more recently struggled to dominate against international talent.

MMA Terror Squad’s Spencer Hewitt has a professional MMA record of 9-3-0 and a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown-belt to boot. He has additionally notched up two UK title belts at Flyweight and at Bantamweight. Most renowned for his ground game and lethal Rear Naked Choke, Hewitt last year demonstrated his knock out power when he finished upcoming talent Cory Tait within 10 seconds of round 1.

James Doolan said:

“I'm happy to get a chance to fight on BAMMA, as I've been a fan of the show for a while.  Spencer is a dangerous opponent with a good record. Both of us are ranked in the top 10 in the UK, so this is a big fight. I'm well rounded enough to win the fight anywhere and if Spencer makes a mistake I’ll exploit it.  I see the fight being pretty technical. I’ll find where I feel comfortable on the night, whether it’s on the feet or on the mat and find a way to win from there.”

Spencer Hewitt said:

“I am really excited about fighting on BAMMA, one of the largest shows in Europe, at the NIA in Birmingham.  I am also looking forward to fighting James Doolan who is a very exciting and dangerous fighter.  This type of fight will only bring the best out in me.  I respect him as a fighter but this is going to be England vs. Scotland for the fans.”

BAMMA’s Head of Talent Relations, Jude Samuel, said:

“This is an A class, UK bout which sees the best of English against the best of Scottish; and which sees two extensively experienced and technically diverse fighters go head to head.  Highly ranked at Flyweight, Hewitt will be looking to make his mark in the Bantamweight rankings, while Doolan will be looking to reassert his dominance on the domestic stage. The fight presents a tough challenge for both fighters and sets the tone to re-establish the Bantamweight division back in BAMMA.”
