UFC light heavyweight prospect, Phil Davis has been speaking about his disappointment at having to pull out of his proposed UFC 133 clash with Rashad Evans next month in Philadelphia, explaining although it was the right thing to do it doesn’t stop him feeling like he’s lost a fight. Speaking via ESPN, Davis said:
“I wanted to fight, but I think Dana White has had more experience with my personality-type. I think he made a good call. But being the person I am, I don’t like to back out. I don’t think it’s a defeat necessary, but somehow it feels like a loss. There’s no saying ‘uncle’. Right now, I’m just doing some rehab, some therapy. I will start doing some training this week. I just want to get healthy. I’m not looking at a strict time line. That’s how you end up with disappointment. I just want to be healthy.”
Davis is coming off a controlling performance over former PRIDE star, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira earlier this year, a fight that moved him to 9-0 in his mixed martial arts career and marked him out as one to watch over the coming months. Stay tuned to MMABay for word on his return to action as we get it.By Michael Pepper.
