In the final bout of the free fights, UFC veteran Krzysztof Soszynski put a beatdown on late injury replacement Mike Massenzio.
Massenzio last competed in the UFC at middleweight but he stepped in on short notice to make his UFC return against "The Polish Experiment."
Massenzio was known for his very impressive wrestling and he did manage to score some takedowns but Soszynski was simply too big, too strong and too well-rounded for him.
Soszynski pummeled the wrestler with big combinations as the fight wore on and he completely dominated "The Master of Disaster" in the third round, blistering Massenzio with knees to the body and heavy strikes.
When it was all said and done, Soszynski came away with an easy decision victory.
Ultimate Fighter season 11 veteran Nick Ring looked to win decisively after a controversial victory at UFC 127 when he took on James Head in a middleweight bout. Ring got dropped twice in the first round but Head gassed himself out pushing a relentless pace.
From the end of the first round on, Ring dominated the remainder of the fight with takedowns and ground and pound. He opened a massive cut on Head's face and as his opponent faded in the third round, he continued to lay into him and eventually secured a fight ending rear naked choke that didn't even require him to put his hooks in.
In featherweight action, Dustin Poirier took a competitive decision from a very game Jason Young. The first round was especially entertaining with both fighters trading heavy strikes and hurting each other with clean hooks that connected flush.
Young got himself back into the fight in the second round with some heavy leg kicks that forced Poirier to change his gameplan and his stance. The Louisiana native responded in the third by turning the bout into a grappling contest, repeatedly taking Young down to win unanimously.
The night's second bout was an absolutely fantastic brawl between Aaron Rosa and Joey Beltran. Both men threw down with reckless abandon as the action could be described no better than rock 'em sock 'em robots.
The crowd stood on its collective feet as both men stood toe to toe and threw bombs for the first two rounds. It was shocking to see two heavyweights with gas tanks and the ability to push such a high pace.
In the third, though, Beltran wore Rosa down and eventually took him down. Once Rosa was on his back, he finally seemed to wilt and Beltran punished him with some huge uppercuts that did some major damage. As Rosa faded, Beltran continued to push the pace and forced a stoppage as the referee stepped in and saved the UFC newcomer as he turned away from "The Mexicutioner's" heavy blows.
The night opened with some controversy as featherweights Michihiro Omigawa and Darren Elkins duked it out. Omigawa was very confident in his stand-up throughout the fight, leaving his hands around his belly button and instead using his movement to avoid strikes.
The Japanese featherweight seemed to land some seriously damaging blows on Elkins' face, busting the American wrestler's face wide open several times. Elkins did press forward and land shots of his own, but they didn't appear to faze Omigawa or do any damage.
In the third round, Omigawa scored a takedown and landed a brutal punch from above that really hurt Elkins. Shockingly, when the judges ruled the decision, they gave it unanimously to Elkins. Even the American looked stunned that he won and Omigawa was obviously disappointed.
