Six fights Brock Lesnar should take when he returns to the octagon next year…
The first of which is former NFL player and cast member on “The Ultimate Fighter” Matt Mitrione, aka “Meathead”. This 265 pound juggernaut has the kind of skills on the feet that could cause Lesnar problems but if unless he’s been working hard on his takedown defence since he fought Joey Beltran the former champion should dominate this one when it hits the ground.
Ok, hardly a household name right now but given six month and another impressive win inside the octagon and fans and journalists alike will no doubt be getting their knickers in a twist about the man from Hawaii. Heavy hands but seemingly no ground game means Browne would have a punchers chance but nothing more against the big man.
A fight many have called for over the last couple of years mearly for it’s novelty value more than anything but if ‘Big Country’ can get a win under his belt next time out uncle Dana might be inclined to feed the fat man to Lesnar as an appetiser and see who comes out the other end with their hand raised.
Legit contender after defeating Gabriel Gonzaga and Mirko Cro Cop in back-to-back fights inside the octagon? Well a fight against Lesnar IF he beats Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira would certainly put those questions to rest once and for all. Decent wrestling and heavy hands means “The Hybrid” would certainly mean he’s no push over for the self proclaimed “world’s most dangerous man”.
The other half of the co-main event from the Rio event. Nogueira would certainly offer Brock problems both on the feet and the ground with solid boxing and Jiu-Jitsu skills off the chart. A fight against another legend of the sport would certainly legitimised Lesnar’s return and let’s face it Nogueira is always one for taking on a big man.
Perhaps the most likely, although we’ve seen it twice before already, would be a rubber match with his bitter rival, Frank Mir. Both hold a win over each other and there’s still bad blood between the two dating back to 2008. With Mir putting together a handy run of wins and bulking up to 260 pounds, it surely is the most likely scenario.
