Speaking during an appearance on R7 in Brazil, Barboza said:
“For sure, every Brazilian wants to fight in Brazil but I do not concern myself much about it. I’m a UFC employee, so what they guess is good for the event is good for me, even more in Rio, that is my hometown.”
“I don’t think about a title shot yet. My focus is to do my job. I will wait for the things happen. It is in God’s hands. I’m in no hurry. I will fight one fight a time and will give my best. I still don’t have anything in sight but I already returned to the trainings. I’m training everything, always thinking on the next challenge.”
“The opponents get your game known. It’s like a ladder, each victory you climb a step and each time it gets harder. But this is an incentive for me to train more and more. The pressure is good because my friends, training partners and manager don’t put any pressure on me. I stay calm because I know my potential.”
Barboza recently earned himself a unanimous decision win over former star of the WEC cage, Anthony Njokuani and with it the “Fight of the Night” bonus award. He is currently undefeated in his mixed martial arts career and has a well versed background in the art of Muay Thai.
