In addition to the three bouts already confirmed – Cathal Pendred versus Bruno Carvalho, Rosi Sexton versus Sheila Gaff and Greg Loughran versus Tim Newman – three more main card bouts are still to be announced. However, Cage Warriors officials have now revealed the make-up of the preliminary card, which consists of six more exciting tussles. Having made a successful 125lbs debut against Brian Hyslop at Cage Warriors 48: London back in July, Europe’s number three flyweight Kris Edwards (8-3-0) will aim to stretch his unbeaten streak to four fights against Mark Platts (10-8-0). Platts, a Newcastle native ranked fourth in the UK, will be eager to bounce back from his loss to Neil Seery at Cage Warriors 47: Dublin in June. Seery (10-9-0), the UK/Ireland’s top-ranked non-UFC signed flyweight, will also return to Cage Warriors action at CWFC 49. The 33-year-old Dubliner takes on Englishman Karl Harrison (4-3-0).
Two highly-rated Welsh bantamweights will collide when Martin McDonough (8-4-0) faces Dino Gambatesa (8-7-0), while Irish lightweight prospect Merv Mulholland will clash with Welsh veteran Daniel Thomas (19-8-1). Also on the Cage Warriors 49 preliminary card, Kevin Reed (8-15-0) faces Lee Caers (7-2-0) at welterweight and rising stars Sam Gilbert (6-2-0) and Brett Johns (3-0-0) will meet in a featherweight bout.
