CWFC 45 main event: Lloret v Brents

A CLASH of heavyweights will form the main event for Cage Warriors 45 at the HMV Forum in London on February 18, when Rogent Lloret takes on Bobby Brents.

Lloret (11-2-1-1nc), who’s contracted to Bellator, is a Spanish submission specialist known for his superb ground-game. Ranked as Europe’s number four heavyweight, Lloret is a jiu-jitsu black belt and M-1 Global veteran.

The 32-year-old was signed by Bellator in 2010 when he was included in their inaugural heavyweight tournament but lost by decision to eventual winner Cole Konrad. That defeat, Lloret’s first in 12 bouts, was followed by wins over Karol Bedorf and Haris Reiz on the European circuit.

Brents (11-2-0) fights out of Fiore MMA in Illinois, USA and combines good wrestling with impressive striking skills. Brents was on a nine-fight win streak before losing to UFC heavyweight Stipe Miocic last April, but he bounced back by defeating Steve Campbell and Cody Griffin.

The 29-year-old, who’ll start with a significant weight advantage, will be fighting outside of the USA for the first time when he squares off against Lloret in Kentish Town on February 18.

“Rogent Lloret is one of Europe’s top heavyweights so I’m really happy to have him on our main event for the London show,” said Cage Warriors matchmaker Ian Dean.

“I’d like to thank Bellator for allowing us to use one of their contracted fighters. Like many of the European fighters on our show, I’ve followed Rogent’s career for many years and I’ve been a big fan of his since seeing him M-1 Challenge series in 2008 and 2009, as well as more recently on Bellator. I think this underlines once again how serious we are about showcasing Europe’s best fighters.

“I’m also very pleased to have secured Bobby Brents as Rogent Lloret’s opponent. This could be Bobby’s breakthrough bout. He’s built up a strong record on his local circuit and I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do in his first international appearance.”
