Bellator Completes 135-Pound Draw, Adds Mann at Featherweight

The lineup for Bellator Fighting Championships’ sixth-season bantamweight tournament is now complete.

Travis Marx will join a field which includes Hiroshi Nakamura, Masakatsu Ueda, Alexis Vila, Ed West, Marcos Galvao, Rodrigo Lima and Luis Alberto Nogueira. MMAJunkie.com first reported the story, and Sherdog.com confirmed the news with Bellator officials on Monday. The winner of the tournament gets $100,000 and a 135-pound title shot.

A representative of both Jackson’s MMA and Mean1 MMA in Albuquerque, N.M., Marx carries a three-fight winning streak into the bracket. He last competed at Fresquez Productions’ “Clash in the Cage” in September, where he forced Mikey Lovato to submit to punches at 1:38 of the opening round. The former Utah State highway patrolman has earned 14 of his 18 career victories by knockout, technical knockout or submission.

Also on Monday, the promotion confirmed Ronnie Mann  as the first participant in its Season 6 featherweight tournament. The 25-year Team Tompkins product has fought four times under the Bellator banner, most recently submitting Kenny Foster with a triangle choke in October. Mann went 3-1 in the promotion in 2011, also beating Adam Schindler and Josh Arocho while losing to Pat Curran in the semifinals of Bellator’s Summer Series featherweight tourney. “Kid Ninja” has finished 10 of his 21 victories by way of submission.

Bellator’s sixth season is expected to begin in March and will air Friday nights on MTV2. Along with the bantamweight and featherweight draws, the Chicago-based promotion will hold tournaments in the lightweight, welterweight and middleweight divisions.
