Former Strikeforce fighter Rogers sentenced to 60 days in prison

DAKOTA COUNTY, Minn. - A nationally-known Mixed Martial Arts fighter from Apple Valley, Minn. was sentenced Wednesday for the June 29 violent assault on his wife, during which she was punched repeatedly, choked and lost a tooth.

Former Strikeforce Heavyweight Championship contender Brett Rogers pleaded guilty to Assault in the Third Degree on Sept. 15. A Dakota County judge sentenced him to 60 days in jail, three years of probation and a $500 fine.
Felony charges of Domestic Assault by Strangulation, Pattern of Stalking Conduct were dismissed, as was a gross misdemeanor charge of Endangerment of a Child.

Rogers was cut from Strikeforce immediately after officials learned of the assault. He continues to fight in other MMA organizations.
