A last-minute injury to Robert Emerson will prevent him from competing as expected against Savant Young at Tachi Palace Fights 11. Instead, Young now meets Maximum Fighting Championship veteran Robert Washington.
Sherdog.com learned of the news on Friday morning from Tachi Palace Entertainment Coordinator Jeremy Luchau. The nature of Emerson's injury has not been disclosed.
Going down Dec. 2 from the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, Calif., the event streams live on Sherdog.com and features a trio of title fights, as the TPF featherweight, bantamweight and flyweight belts will all be on the line.
Young has not competed since submitting to a Mark Hominick armbar at Affliction "Banned" in 2008. A four-time veteran of the defunct International Fight League, the 35-year-old holds notable wins over Kendall Grove, Ed West and Takeshi Inoue. A 13-year pro, Young has finished six of his nine career wins by either knockout or submission.
Seven years the junior of his foe, Washington recently recovered from a three-fight skid in the MFC to post back-to-back wins outside that organization. “The Beast” has already fought five times this year, most recently outpointing Joshua Thorpe on Sept. 24. Representing Finney's HIT Squad, Washington has earned five knockouts and a submission since beginning his career in 2007.
