Bellator Releases Hornbuckle, Reis as from Oct 2

Following consecutive defeats inside the promotion, both Dan Hornbuckle (22-5-0) and Wilson Reis (12-4-0) were released from their Bellator contracts on Monday Oct 2nd.
Hornbuckle (30) representing American Top Team, appeared six times under the Bellator banner going 3-3 since April of 2010. He was a finalist in the promotion's 2010 Welterweight Tournament where he met eventual winner Ben Askren at Bellator 22; that night, Hornbuckle saw his momentum derailed by the formidable wrestler when "Funky" took a unanimous decision on the cards and

later went on the capture the welterweight title which he still holds today. "The Handler" last competed at Bellator 49 where he was eliminated in the Season 5 Welterweight Tournament quarterfinal round, dropped a unanimous decision to Luis Santos.

Sao Paulo, Brazil's Wilson Reis (26) out of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu United has been a main-stay in the Bellator cage since the promotion's second event in April of 2009. He competed nine times under the banner compiling a 5-4 record, but was knocked out in each of his last two bouts against fellow Brazilians Patricio Freire and Eduardo Dantas respectively.
