MTV officials Tuesday announced that Bellator Fighting Championships 52 earned an average of 269,000 viewers with its Saturday night broadcast on MTV2, peaking with 345,000 viewers during its third quarter-hour.
In addition to the total viewership -- Bellator’s second-largest figure since debuting on MTV2 in March -- network officials also confirmed that the program earned a series-high 0.33 rating in the Male 18-49 demographic.
The broadcast represents a sharp increase from the promotion’s last two offerings on MTV2, which netted 114,000 and 158,000 viewers. According to MTV, Bellator 52 took in an additional 196,000 viewers during the show’s 1:00 a.m. replay.
Emanating from L’Auberge du Lac Casino in Lake Charles, La., Bellator 52 featured the quarterfinals of the promotion’s second heavyweight tournament, as the field of eight competitors was narrowed to four. Mike Hayes and Eric Prindle took home decision wins over Neil Grove and Abe Wagner, while Blagoi Ivanov and Ron Sparks advanced to the semifinals by finishing Zak Jensen and Mark Holata, respectively.
