Octagon newcomer, Byron Bloodworth, has stepped up on just four days notice to fight Mike Easton at UFC on Versus 6, which is scheduled for the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 1, 2011.
Bloodworth replaces Jeff Hougland, who was forced out of the bantamweight bout because of an undisclosed injury. The promotion announced that last-minute switch earlier this afternoon.
Easton, a highly touted 135-pound talent, is also making his UFC debut this upcoming weekend, in front of a hometown crowd no less. "The Hulk," who has not competed in nearly two years because of knee surgeries, was last seen stealing a controversial split decision from Chase Beebe at UWC 7: "Redemption" in Oct. 2009.

The Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt under Lloyd Irvin is on a five-fight win streak that dates back to 2007, which marks his first and only loss in 11 professional appearances. Easton will look to make it six straight in the nation's capital when he battler Bloodworth.

A product of Wilmington, N.C., Bloodworth is on a three-fight win streak of his own. In his most recent appearance, which took place less than one month ago, he took out Scott Farhat with a knockout knee at Wild Bill's Fight Night 39.
Bloodworth, who has less than three years of professional mixed martial arts (MMA) under his belt, will certainly have his work cut out for him against such a talented opponent.

UFC on Versus 6 will be headlined by a bantamweight title fight that features champion Dominick Cruz trying to "Dominate" the division's mightiest mouse, Demetrious Johnson. In the co-featured fight of the night, one of the heavyweight division's shortest fighters, Pat Barry, will take on its tallest, Stefan Struve.
Other match ups set for the televised main card include a welterweight war between Anthony Johnson andCharlie Brenneman, as well as a long awaited rematch that pits Mac Danzig vs. Matt Wiman.
