“Big Red” returns to the big stage in October as Eric Schafer takes on middleweight wrestler Aaron “A-Train” Simpson at UFC 136.
Schafer (12-5-2), who returns to the UFC for a third time, replaces Nick Catone, who pulled out of the fight with an injury. He was cut from the UFC for a second time last year, after dropping fights to both Ryan Bader and Jason Brilz. Since then Schafer moved down to the middleweight division and scored a win over Chris Albandia at XFO 41.
Eric had also beaten Houston Alexander, Antonio Mendes and Rob McDonald in the UFC,
Simpson (9-2-0) is currently riding a two-fight winning streak, defeating Mario Miranda and Brad Tavares.
UFC 136 takes place on October 8th at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
