Brett Rogers makes plea agreement in domestic assault case

According to his hometown paper The Apple Valley Patch, former Strikeforce heavyweight title challenger Brett Rogers has reached a plea deal in reference to the alleged domestic assault case with his wife stemming from an alleged attack this past June. Here are the official details:

MMA fighter Brett Rogers pled guilty to one count of third-degree assault on Thursday morning stemming from a late June domestic assault incident. Three other charges in relation to the incident were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
A pre-sentence investigation will be conducted in advance of a Nov. 30 sentencing hearing. Rogers remains free on $100,000 bond and could still face jail time, however Rogers' attorney, Murad Mohammed, feels there is a good chance that his client could see a stay of imposition in any sentence given his lack of previous record and willingness to seek help.

Rogers was initially charged with felony third-degree assault, felony domestic assault by strangulation, and felony stalking as well as one gross misdemeanor count of endangerment of a child. Those last three charges were dropped with this guilty plea and the assault charges no longer include a felony.
Rogers' lawyer was very happy with the result:

"Overall, Brett and I are pleased with the outcome," said Mohammed. "I think it's important for everyone, especially Brett's wife and family, to know that Brett has taken ownership for everything that's happened. It's an unfortunate situation for the family and the end result is Brett not having a felony conviction resulting in him returning to his family and continuing to fight."

By having the felony removed from the guilty plea, Rogers will be able to participate in next week's Titan Fighting Championship 20 main event against UFC veteran Eddie Sanchez on September 23rd.
